Match overview
Italy and Brazil produced one of the greatest matches in World Cup history. Rossi opened the scoring, Sócrates equalised, but Rossi restored Italy’s lead. Falcão levelled again, only for Rossi to complete his hat-trick and send Italy into the semi-finals. The match was played at a furious pace, with both teams attacking relentlessly.
Trivia
Rossi’s hat-trick is one of the most famous in World Cup history. Brazil’s defeat ended the campaign of a team widely regarded as one of the greatest never to win the trophy.
