West Germany came from behind to defeat the Netherlands 2-1 in the World Cup final in Munich. After Neeskens opened the scoring from the penalty spot, Breitner levelled with a penalty before Müller scored the winner before half-time.

Trivia

This was West Germany’s second World Cup triumph. The final is remembered for its tactical battles and the early Dutch goal before a German comeback.
