Match overview

Spain needed victory and struck early through Manjarín, but Răducioiu levelled to leave qualification in doubt. Substitute Amor stooped to head an 84-minute winner that, combined with France’s triumph in Newcastle, sent La Roja into the last eight and consigned Bulgaria to elimination.

Trivia

Guillermo Amor flew home the next morning for the birth of his child, becoming the first Spanish international to score at a major finals and become a father within twenty-four hours.
