Yugoslavia overcame an early setback to defeat Denmark 2–1 in Ljubljana in a crucial 1982 World Cup qualifying match. After conceding a penalty converted by Arnesen, Yugoslavia levelled with a penalty from goalkeeper Pantelić, and then took the lead with a goal from Zoran Vujović before halftime.
The second half remained tense, with Denmark pushing for an equaliser, but Yugoslavia held firm to take all two points.
The match helped Yugoslavia stay competitive in a difficult qualifying group that included Italy and Greece.
Trivia
Yugoslav goalkeeper Dragan Pantelić was one of the rare keepers to take and score penalties for his national team. His equaliser in this match remains one of the most memorable moments of his career.
