In one of the most thrilling UEFA Cup matches of the decade, Tenerife overturned a 1–0 first-leg loss to eliminate Lazio with a dramatic 5–3 victory.
Despite Lazio scoring three times through Nedvěd, Fuser and Casiraghi, Tenerife’s relentless attack led by Juanele and Kodro secured qualification on aggregate.
The match is still remembered in the Canary Islands as a legendary night of European football and the birth of Tenerife’s continental legacy.
