Real Madrid suffered a shock home defeat against Austrian side Wacker Innsbruck in the first leg of the 1970–71 Cup Winners’ Cup second round.
The only goal came in the 22nd minute from Leopold Grausam. Despite several efforts by Amancio and Marañón, the hosts failed to break through.
The defeat put pressure on the Spanish giants, who later overturned the tie in the second leg in Innsbruck with a 2–0 win.

This was Real Madrid’s first ever home defeat in a European Cup Winners’ Cup match.
The match featured Austrian international Kurt Jara, who later became a successful Bundesliga coach.
