Match overview
Germany twice came from behind in a rain-soaked Munich thriller to seal the point they needed to reach the last sixteen. Hungary struck early through captain Szalai and regained the lead almost instantly after Havertz’s leveller, but Goretzka’s late equaliser denied the Magyars a famous win and kept Joachim Löw’s side alive in Group F.
Trivia
Leon Goretzka’s 84-minute strike meant Germany have scored in 27 consecutive matches at major tournaments since Euro 2008. Hungary, unbeaten at the Allianz Arena in three visits, bowed out without defeat to both France and Germany-echoing their gritty group-stage resilience last seen at Euro 2016.
