Brazil advanced to the semi-finals with a 4-2 victory over Peru in Guadalajara. Brazil raced to a 2-0 lead before Peru pulled one back. Tostão scored again early in the second half, but Cubillas gave Peru hope before Jairzinho sealed the win. The match was a showcase of attacking football from both sides.

Trivia

This match featured two Brazilian coaches: Mário Zagallo for Brazil and Didi for Peru. The six goals made it one of the most entertaining quarter-finals in World Cup history.
