Already qualified Brazil surrendered a late lead as Norway produced a stunning comeback, Flo outmuscling Junior Baiano before Rekdal converted a nerveless penalty. The victory sent the Scandinavians into the last 16 and remains their only win over the Seleção.
Trivia
This upset ended Brazil’s 100 percent record in group play since 1982. The penalty award is still remembered for Baharmast’s perfect positioning; replays later vindicated his decision despite initial Brazilian protests.
